HISTORY
Henry Winstead
In 1964 Henry Winstead & Al Stocscavage founded H&W Tool. They named the company after the first initial of their wives maiden names, Heckmann & Williams. They ran the company in a garage until they built this building in 1966.
We began our business using Bridgeports to older Elox manual EDM, comparators, and Deckle duplicators. We use state of the art technology to insure the highest precision in our tools. Quality is our primary focus. We develop tools and Dies to the highest specifications to meet our client’s needs.
The most important thing I learned from my father was the importance of honesty when working with our customers. Just be honest and tell them the situation. This builds trust and respect. If you act dishonestly it will catch up with you. Integrity builds reputation.
I also learned to treat our employees fairly, by offering competitive salaries and benefits. We have minimal turnover. It’s like an extended family because our people have been with us for so long.
We have expanded to a second location in Virginia where we are building relationships not only with the military for various applications but also for our medical implant components. We are also developing blades for the large industrial gas turbine (IGT) engines that generate electricity.
We have three generations working in the business Henry is still active and a great source of knowledge. Rick runs the show and has really grown the business. Rick’s Daughter Sarah is running the office and her sister Amie helps with the billing.
Pride in our quality, a strong work ethic, and a sense of family are the building blocks at H&W Tool.
